Civilwarland is in bad decline. A government that fuels and accelerates the climate crisis while waging war on its own people. A techno-fascist class of rich cynics that know that the only future they can rule is one that is passive, stupid, small and shrinking. They’ve got us addicted to the deranging news that breaks daily.

Even if every trend in American political and cultural life is drifting away from meaningful collective action and toward bitter individualism, the only way we get through this is together. And whatever the survivable version of the future ends up looking like, it starts with an honest understanding of the problem.
